Has Anyone Used Resvinatol Complete for Heart Health?
I just heard about a new antioxidant supplement called Resvinatrol Complete that I think I want to start taking. It has the antioxidant equivalent of 156 of red wine and is supposed to be 4 times stronger than pomegranate's antioxidant capacity. Has anyone ever heard of it or used it?
I looked at the website for it, judging by the ingredients it is safe. However, I don't see any proof that this is an improvement over standard vitamin supplements and at $30.00 for 40 pills is kind of pricey.
It won't due any harm to give it a shot, but I would look at the cheaper alternatives first.
Also, the American Heart Association doesn't recommend using antioxidant vitamin supplements until more complete data are available. They continue to recommend that people eat a variety of nutrient-rich foods daily from all the basic food groups.

How do you eat (and what part of do you eat) a pomegranate?
What part of the pomegranate is edible and how do you get at it without wasting it?
Not much, is the short answer. I had a lovely old pomegranate bush covered with fruit, but for casual eating? Nope. The good part is supposed to be that red, juicy covering around the seeds.
Here's a quote from the Seasonal Chef: "You can eat pomegranates out of hand, cracking open the shells, taking whole mouthfuls of the tightly-packed crimson seeds, gently bursting each blister of fruit with your teeth to extract the juice, then spitting out the rest."
Frankly, I found that sour and messy as heck!

Why do people discourage eating fruit?
Why are so many people afraid of eating fruit while trying to lose weight?
Is fruit really that caloric?
Isn't it better to have fruit than cake?
Isn't fruit loaded with antioxidants and vitamins?
Fruit is high in carbohydrates and though it is packed with vitamins and fiber and nutrients, if eaten in high high quantities or in juices, it can have the same effect as white sugar on your waist line. If you eat tons of fruit but do nothing to work it off, it'll eventually turn to unused carbs then fat. I think people only discourage eating fruits in low carb diets. Otherwise, you can pretty much eat all you'd like. If you are a healthy weight, don't worry about it; eat up! But, extreme dieters do need to watch their sugar, natural or not.
